Happy Veteran's Day! Today I'm grateful for our military men and women who have so unselfishly served our country. I'm grateful for the sacrifices they have made, and for their families. My brother-in-law is currently serving in Iraq with the California National Guard, and we pray for his safety and give thanks for his service. At school yesterday my boys told me that their teachers had explained that today was a holiday and there would be no school. I asked if their teachers had explained what Veteran's Day was, and they said they hadn't. I understand how busy the teachers are this week with conferences, but really? So this morning we started off by watching this little clip that I found at the History channel's site:
You may want to pause the music player :).
I hope to entertwine our day off with a bit of history, to help them realize the importance of the day and to appreciate our veterans more.
And since it's Thursday, I have a Sketchy Thursdays layout to share! This is Carson at his Kindergarten Musical. He was so excited to be one of the few chosen kids to play the xylophone. We miss the music teacher so much! She was so sweet.
If you haven't already, stop by Sketchy Thursdays to see the sketch, the DT's takes, and the fabulous prize! Have a wonderful day, everyone! Tessa

ReplyDeleteI love what you said about Veterans Day. I served in the USAF in the 1980s and I am more proud of that than anything else except being a mom.
