Summer Sun - SRM Challenges

It's the first Friday of the month, which means there is a new challenge up at SRM Challenges! This month's theme is summer. I had some extra prints of a San Diego trip a couple summers ago that I've been meaning to scrapbook, and this challenge was the perfect opportunity.

I used two sticker sheets for this layout. The general summer sentiments from this one, and the beach/water-themed stickers from this one. I simply trimmed out my favorite sentiments and lined them up on rows of washi tape and stripes in the patterned paper.

The papers are from Dear Lizzy's Lucky line. I have hoarded this collection and it's about time I use some of it! It felt good to use some of that stockpiled paper :). The flower brads are Chickaniddy Crafts. The alpha stickers are Fancy Pants Designs.

I also finally got to use some washi tapes that hadn't made their way on anything yet. I love the dark navy and floral tape! It almost looks black here, but it's really a beautiful blue in person.

If you'd like to join in the challenge, you can check out the details here. Several other designers have projects up to inspire you, too, so be sure to stop by and take a look. If you were just there, thanks for clicking over to my blog. I hope you enjoyed the close-ups :).

Thanks for visiting! Tessa

Create! Magazine - Fancy Pants Designs

Hello and happy Monday! I'm excited to share that I have a humble, small little part in this new magazine produced by Scrapbook Generation - Create!

The Fancy Pants Designs team was invited to contribute, and I created a layout based on a fabulous sketch...

...as well as a tag based on another great sketch, both with the Timbergrove collection:

The publication is free, beautiful, and full of practical, great information for creating everything from cards to layouts to tags and altered items. You will love it! Find it here.

Thanks to Fancy Pants Designs and Scrapbook Generation for the opportunity! And thank you for stopping by. Have a good one!

Tessa

PS - No baby girl yet ;). 2.5 weeks to go!

Hearts and Triangles - Fancy Pants Designs Sneak Peek

I'm up on the Fancy Pants Designs blog today :). My assignment - the trendy heart. I decided to take it a bit further and combine hearts and trendy triangles. Here's a little peek:

Find the rest of the layout at the blog here. And if you're looking for Valentines ideas, check out the card I made with a similar technique :).

Enjoy your day! Tessa

PS - Because this is now a daily question from so many friends and family...no baby yet. Three weeks until she's due. Follow me on instagram to see how her nursery is coming along :).

Scrapbook Circle All Is Bright Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to my stop on the blog hop for Scrapbook Circle. If you are here by chance but would like to hop along, start at the Scrapbook Circle blog. If you just came from Rebecca's blog, you're in the right place. Be sure to visit every creative team member's blog - you have a chance to win an All is Bright December kit at each stop! And believe me, you want this kit!

This is the first page I created with the main kit, a touch of the add-on, and a bit of the cardstock add-on. Here's the story:

I used white and gold metallic paint to distress my background and make a home for layered patterned paper, tissue paper, vellum, die-cuts and embellishments. Because the theme of my page is the joy children experience this time of year, I wanted my page to be whimsical.

Some of my favorite items include the gold glitter cardstock (title and snowflakes) and the giant rhinestones by Glitz Designs.

I also love the Fancy Pants Designs buttons and tickets! I am saving them for a challenge project that you will see a bit later this month at the Scrapbook Circle blog. Being a Pocket Chick (Fancy Pants Designs design team member), I already have these buttons and tickets on hand. Would you like my extras? Not only will I draw a name from the comments for the All is Bright kit, but I will also draw a name for a Fancy Pants Designs goodie bag from me personally. Good luck!

I hope you've enjoyed the hop so far, and that you'll enjoy the last few stops, too! Hop quickly - comments are only open to win the kit until December 3rd at midnight. Visit creative team member, the talented Melissa Mann, next.

Good luck and Merry Christmas! Tessa

I must love my boys...Student Council, Fancy Pants

Hello! We had a busy, busy week, and even busier weekend. I have a new sister! I'll share wedding details tomorrow, including a few DIY projects I had the privilege of contributing :).

Colten, my oldest, tells me Tuesday morning before school, "Mom - I'm running for student council president. Posters were supposed to go up yesterday." Yesterday?! How long have you known this?! Apparently, since Friday. Grrrr. So, we took a couple of minutes to search Pinterest for good campaign slogans. He picked one and I added the supplies to the day's wedding prep shopping list: "Don't blow it! Chews Colten Buys for president!" Luckily, Colten didn't have much homework that afternoon, so we got to work. First, a photo shoot:

Second, I set him up with my Silhouette Cameo. I laid everything out on the computer, but he did the rest - loading the cardstock and the mat, clicking cut, etc. He hates pulling the leftover cardstock off of the mat as much as I do ;). I helped glue down the letters and the photos, but he laid it all out on the posters for me. Lastly, he glued on the empty bubble gum packages and wrote out the rest of the words. The next morning, we got to school early and helped him put them up all over campus.

There was some drama with kids tearing off the empty gum packages, and accusations of Colten passing out the gum for votes, but Colten rose above it all and did his best to enjoy the process. Oh, the joys of politics! As much as that tough stuff hurts this mama's heart, I was happy to see him learning from the experience. The results came in Friday, and...he did it! We referred to Colten as Mr. President often during the weekend ;).

Raising these boys is definitely an adventure, a journey bringing lots of craziness - and happiness, too. I'm up on the Fancy Pants Designs blog today with a mini album all about them and their journey. To see more, and to read about how easily it came together, check out the Fancy Pants Designs blog here.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember - come back tomorrow for some DIY wedding projects!

Swagger meets Cowboy at Fancy Pants Designs

Hello! Or should I say, Howdy! I've got a layout up on the Fancy Pants Designs blog today all about my 4 year old's cowboy birthday party. I used the Swagger line in a "western" way, and it turned out great!

I created a sketch for this layout, as well as a matching card, so please check out the post and let me know what you think! Other than paper and pen sketches, this is the first layout sketch that I've created and shared. I hope you find it useful! You can find the sketch here.

I've got a lot to catch you up on - it's been a whirlwind couple of weeks! Stay tuned, this gal will be a regular blogger again starting now ;). Have a good one! Tessa
