SMASH Sunday - Enjoying Fall Rain
Hello! I've had requests on instagram, Flickr, Blogger, Facebook - you name it - for the return of SMASH Sunday. I'm flattered and today I am very happy to fulfill your requests! Every Sunday for the foreseeable future I will be featuring a new page or two from one of my SMASH books. I'm also planning videos, tutorials and giveaways. And...you may see something pop up in my shop for smashing ;). But enough of that. Let's get to the SMASH book pages ;).
This page comes from my SMASH words book. Click here, here and here for other pages. I was hoping to complete this book in 2013, but once my little girl decided to come along, I was just too sick and preggo to keep working on it. So, it's now a 2013/2014 book ;). This page spread is from the section "enjoying...".
The photo is an instagram shot of my oldest son and I out in the rain last fall. It was the first rain, and like total goofballs, we both ran outside and started singing, "Singing in the Rain."
I went with a blue and red color palette for this page spread. So far, this book has a lot of pink, peach and green. I thought blue and red would be nice for a change.
My favorite part of this page spread is the framed hearts. I used my die-cutter to cut postage stamp frames from wood veneer. Next, I wrapped the frames in teal thread and glued wood veneer hearts to the centers. I love the texture of the wood and thread. I'm thinking about adding these to my shop. Let me know if you're interested :).
Supplies: bird patterned paper - Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper; polka dot patterned paper - Basic Grey; journaling tag - Elle's Studio; flashcard - Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper; fabric polaroid frame - Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper; wood veneer hearts - Studio Calico; die-cut heart - Studio Calico; small tag - cut from a SMASH pad by K&Company; other - thread, doily, paint chip, mist.
Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to visit next Sunday, too. I'll have a little something special for you. :). Have a great start to your week! Tessa
