The challenge is to use buttons in some way on a layout. I love this photo of Addie...
...and I had an ambitious idea to create a rainbow out of buttons to play on the theme of her quilt, but after two tries, I just couldn't seem to make it work. So, I went foraging through my paper stash and found this darling floral from the Cut and Paste line by Amy Tangerine. Perfect!
I kept the center white so that it wouldn't compete with the busy pattern. That adorable flair is by A Flair for Buttons.
The journaling is hidden on the tag, tucked into a coin envelope that is adhered behind the photo.
Red buttons sewn to the red flowers was the perfect way to add dimension and interest without adding more to the busyness. I used yellow and blue thread to make it more fun, though.
If you'd like to play along, you can find all the details - and fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team - here.
Editorial note: The challenges at the The Studio are posted on Sundays, which means I'll be changing up my Smash Sunday routine. You'll find a Smash Sunday post every other Sunday, and a post for The Studio every other Sunday. I am also working on a new art journaling project that might appeal to my smash book friends, so hopefully that will make up for fewer posts (although I plan to share more pages per post).
I hope this week is a great one for you! Thanks for stopping by :). Tessa
very cute layout, Tessa. I really like the unique way you incorporated the buttons...and your little girl is a cutie! :o)
